AMD stands for age-related macular degeneration. The macula is a highly specialised area on the retina and is responsible for focused vision. When a person approaches old age, deposits can form under the retina, particularly in the vicinity of the macula. These deposits cause an increasing number of sensory cells in the macula to degenerate.

Generally one capsule per day, unless otherwise advised, swallowed whole with some liquid at or after a meal.
